The most significant of these is probably their link with TalkTalk, first announced in October 2021 with packages appearing from 2022 onwards.

It is Alexa-enabled, so you can ask a supported device to open "Netgem TV and play The Grand Tour", for example. This new contract with TalkTalk Group demonstrates the relevance of Netgem’s unique positioning in the fast-growing connected entertainment market. It's something different and it won't be for everyone, but it's worth checking out for many people who want a TV service but don't want to go the full Sky or Virgin Media route. Get ready for epic movie nights, binge-watching marathons, and a whole lot of entertainment goodness. Movies) are also available on Freeview – but their broadband-based version on Netgem may have a slightly different schedule, plus – they don’t require an aerial. Tastemade – Food, Home and Travel – From quick recipes to original series enjoy cooking and travel stories from around the world.

The box has a meet interface albeit a little complex but without a hardrive/SSD to give it a fully functional PVR service, what makes this set-top box different to ‘Smart TVs’. My plan was to continue using the satellite dish fixed to the side of the house, but get Freesat instead. One benefit of this new layout is that you’re exposed to content you may not have originally sought out; for example, in the movie section of the app we found lots of films hosted on BBC iPlayer, which is somewhere you may not have initially thought to look for films. Yet because the Netbox 4K only has one tuner, no other channels can be watched while the programme is being recorded. Please log in to My Account if you need to view or pay your bill, manage boosts and track your usage. Small and compact, the Netbox 4K is designed to blend in seamlessly with the rest of your entertainment system, meaning it won’t take up precious room on your TV stand or cabinet.

If you have children, you may want to keep a closer eye on the type of content they are able to access through the service. Netgem TV has a smorgasbord of shows, movies, and channels that'll keep you glued to your screen for hours on end.Although the improved user interface feels a lot easier to navigate, we did find that some of the categorization wasn’t always accurate. If recording is the main reason you’re looking for a standalone Freeview box, then you should look elsewhere, for boxes with built-in storage and more advanced capabilities (see our recommended Freevew boxes list here). The new app-powered TV service will be available on mobile devices bundled with the UK’s first Freeview and 4K media streamer, the NetBox 4K. It has everything you need, but the button-setup is a bit confusing, and the navigation buttons in the middle – which are the buttons you would use the most – are just plain bad, because they are too flat – so you’re not always sure whether you actually pressed them or not.

The latter is one of the worst points about this unit, with a more complex and less intuitive layout than the one that came with the Netbox HD, slightly unresponsive buttons and a particularly fiddly cursor pad. Netgem, thanks to its fully operated NetgemTV platform already market-tested with several operators in Britain in particular, and its expertise for running agreements with the main TV channels and the rising number of OTT content providers, intends to continue to expand its Content-as-a-Service model with Tier 1 operators. Really small and compact ,and by using a downloaded (to my phone)app it is really very easily set up,excellent quality of picture even though I have a very poor ariel, and a huge range of built in apps and channels ,many in varied languages, yes once I get used this box I think I'm going to enjoy it,why pay expensive monthly subscriptions when you have this level of viewing free, must be at least 20 different sports on at anyone time. In 2020 Freeview Play is everywhere, coming pre-installed on TVs from LG, Panasonic, Philips and Toshiba, amongst others, and on affordable set-top-boxes from Humax, Panasonic and Manhattan. Along with this came what used to be Freeview Play’s ace in the hole: the ability to scroll backwards through the TV guide and watch programmes that had already been shown up to seven days prior. The front of streaming box also features a thin LED that indicates when the Netbox 4K is powered on. The Netbox, however, has a pretty slick interface – it’s not the fastest on the market (that still goes to the Manhattan T3-R), but it’s better than most Smart TV interfaces. A fantastic new addition to Netgem is YouTube, but if you're a fan of Netflix shows like The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina or Bojack Horseman you may be disappointed – the new NetBox 4K doesn't support Netflix at all. This is a totally subjective issue, but I like to have the TV Guide front and centre and other services available at a button press, whereas Netgem has gone for a slightly weirder presentation.
