Others can be deceiving - I have a bottle of Ledaig, the Tobermory peated expression, which smells like creme brulee and mashed potato on the nose - not a hint of peat until it hits the tongue. Starting from 2021, thanks to the synergy with Tree-Nation, Bottle of Italy has contributed to the planting of over 6,000 trees. Only reviews that feature the label "Verified Review" have been checked to ensure that the author actually used or purchased the product. The peat brings out prominent tastes of a damp forest floor, smoked kippers, liquid bonfire and a hint of iodine. A brand new addition to Laphroaig's core range, this 10 year old whisky has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks adding a layer of dark chocolate, leather and caramel onto the distillery's signature .

It’s what layers notes of Manuka honey and grilled bacon onto our renowned flavours of peat smoke and seaweed.Laphroaig 10 embodies the quintessential Islay peated single malt, faithfully distilled in accordance with traditions passed down by dedicated master distillers spanning two centuries.

Personally I adore peated whisky, and Laphroaig 10 for me is the benchmark (much like Glenfiddich 12 or Glenmorangie 10 for non-peated whisky). Being a coastal distillery, there is plenty of saltiness in the dram too, it really helps to enhance the peaty flavours, and balance the sweetness, making for a really pleasant and balanced dram. You should also note that the picture images show only our serving suggestions of how to prepare your food - all table accessories and additional items and/or ingredients pictured with the product you are purchasing are not included. Laphroaig 10 Year Old Islay Single Malt Whisky works perfect as a surprising twist in a classic French martini. On the nose there are clouds of smoke with an iodine infused sea spray topped with a sprig of seaweed. Most negative reviews are based on the fact that it tastes peaty or smoky and nothing like whisky from other regions. A distinctive character that still holds true to the spirit of Ian Hunter, who first created it over 75 years ago. Each sip brings complicated notes of smoke, seaweed, peat and a hint of salt – like a bracing fall day on Scotland's rugged coast.
