A váratlanul megnyert 2009-es világbajnokság után azt gondoltam, hogy ilyen gyenge világbajnokból sem akadt túl sok, de azóta azért Button megmutatta, hogy össze lehet mérni a legjobbakkal. The full-length, in-depth and intimate autobiography from Jenson Button, one of Britain's greatest ever racing drivers.

Reviews of classic and contemporary sports books – my personal take on the sports books I've read (and mostly loved). With the combination of the famous Silverstone Motor Circuit, an introduction from John Grant (the Chairman of the British Racing Drivers Club), Sky Sports Natalie Pinkham as host, exclusive content being filmed for Sky Sports, F1 simulators – and of course – Jenson Button himself, we’re taking this event to the next level. Beloved by fans both on and off the track, Jenson is currently the face of Sky Sports’ 2019 F1 coverage. He also managed to keep me entertained when he was talking about some of the not so fan aspects of the sport, so props to him for his storytelling skills. Jenson’s father John was a huge influence on his life and the section of the book that describes John’s death is very heart felt.Towards the end of the book, Button gets very emotional as he recounts his father’s death and the loss he felt. It's a third about racing, the workings of formula 1 and the people he loves, and 2/3rd about people who wronged him/made a snide comment/were bad teammates/were friendly teammates but were they really/weird team directors, etc. Even I still miss seeing John at races, so I totally understand why, after his death, Jenson just didn't have the heart for it. With this team in 2009 Button won six of the first seven races and ultimately went on to claim his first and only Formula One World Drivers’ Championship.

from the little bits of his personality we get to see of him as a commentator for sky sports, he is such an endearing person. I dedicated 17 years and my entire adult life to F1 and I went on that journey with family, friends and teams that ensured every day was special and this book is a celebration and insight into that and all we achieved together.

Although very hard-hitting, it was also an exceptionally eye-opening chapter on the basis that I firmly believed his dad had died of a heart attack. The requirements of fitness needed to be a Formula One driver and the trials and tribulations (often with the trademark Button wit) that he went through to achieve what he has are very well put. I have to admit that I heard Jenson's voice in my head, his tone and timbre clearly coming through so I wish he had read it himself but Jack did a wonderful job. It begins with Button’s karting days, when he and his dad would travel the length of the UK competing. A Honda ambassador, Jenson is co-owner of Rocket Motorsport and co-founder of Leger cycling apparel.

And as it happens, Santa popped it under my tree and before the Boxing Day turkey curry had even been cooked, I’d already started it.

Along the way there's all the advice that may be useful to aspiring racers, all the stuff he wished he'd known years ago.

I adored the insights into the life of an F1 driver in the 2000s (from the outrageous motorhomes to the who's-got-the-biggest-boat competitiveness), which revealed a fair few surprises. It's the people I've met in my seventeen years in Formula One, many of whom I've loved, some of whom I definitely haven't. I won't say I'm exactly over K, the racing car driver or swanning around in Ferraris and Aston Martins, as I watch Youtube videos of him racing (he has a camera in the cockpit), but it's kind of lessening, and my desire to go racing again is raging in me, a real passion. Mikor felmerült, hogy a Molyklubra olvasni kellene egy önéletrajzot, akkor tudtam, hogy ez egy Forma-1-es sportolóé lesz, és a meglévők közül Jenson Buttonéra esett a választásom. From the couch to the podium, the pit-lane to the racetrack, to what really goes on behind-the-scenes. Although with that said, there certainly are enough little anecdotes sprinkled through that I hadn't heard before to keep the book engaging. I haven’t actively followed him during his time in Formula One but I love the interview he does for Sky Sports F1. Part Three traces his surprise move to partner Lewis Hamilton at McLaren in 2010 and his succession of teammates since including Perez, Magnussen and Fernando.
