Goth-Tech (HD, 4:39) – The artists who had a hand in creating the colors and unique look of the post apocalyptic world of Pacific Rim chime in here. Although the release lazily doesn't even bother including the Blu-ray set's second disc of extras, it's still a stunning video and audio upgrade that remains one of the go-to demo discs for the format. The Bold New Take on The Beloved Classic “The Color Purple” Debuts on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD March 12th! But I think it's very clear also that the "4K" version is suboptimal and there is surely much more resolution we can extract if this were a true 4K image.

The inky black levels of drift-dreams and the ocean floor drip in shadows, while the neon glow of Hong Kong cityscapes pop off the screen, giving the image an almost-3D quality. He won me over in Prometheus, but seriously folks…how can you turn your back on a guy who delivers a speech saying we’re taking back what’s ours and canceling the apocalypse. While admittedly not a great movie, for guys and gals who like steam punk themes, monsters, and of course really big robot mechs, Guillermo del Toro serves up quite a feast of a real-live action anime. Read more about the condition New: An item that is still in its original shrink wrap from the manufacturer and the original manufacturer’s seal (if applicable) has not been removed. However, resolution-wise, notice the lack of a significant difference when compared 1:1 on a high resolution monitor.

The film does feature a fair few other moments of Jaegers battling monsters in the ocean, story or otherwise. Pacific Rim' is GLORIOUS in Ultra HD with HDR/WCG and may just be the finest example of what the format has to offer. e. tiny little glints of light - then it's not throwing away those tiny little glints as mentioned, it's throwing away massive chunks of clouds or whatever that are living in that artificially boosted high-nit range, thus making it look more blown out than the SDR. Intricacy of Robot Design (HD, 4:53) – Here’s a very cool one as we get to sit in an early design meeting about the Jaeger machines and see first hand how concepts evolved into giant metal warriors.Depending on the setting of the HDR conversion, we can adjust the brightness, but that contrast difference is evident. VUDU has also announced support for HDR10, but I haven't heard specifics about when that will be available. Depth: Characters all feel living and breathing on my 4K television screen as they literally pop in three-dimension from the blurred out, depth of field backgrounds.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. Uprising goes out of its way to be as simplistic as possible, even when featuring Charlie Day and Burn Gorman reprising their respective roles from the previous movie to provide the central conflict, which again also, is ridiculously nonsensical and laughably silly.

electric blues and fiery reds emerge to begin the movie, building in complexity and intensity with incredible eye-catching results. Of the young cast, the only one which displayed a mildly interesting personality is Viktoriya Malikova (Ivanna Sakhno), the young privileged pilot rivaling Amara as the hardened soldier.

Focus Points (HD) – Believe it or not ladies and gentlemen, there are a total of 13 separate focus points.I absolutely love the guy now (well I still won’t be as forgiving with him for the Hellboy films or his involvement in Mama)! If you love Charlie in comedies such as Horrible Bosses, then there’s no way you’re not going to adore his character here. Indeed ultimately Uprising surprises slightly in its narrative turns, affording the unassuming viewer some nice little twists which carry the direction of the action - allowing for not only a little Mecha on Monster action like last time out, but also some Mecha on Mecha combat, which was never tackled in the first film. Granted, there is a great deal of hard, commanding bass to enjoy, providing the gigantic action with plenty of weight and presence, but it's not at the room-energizing, wall-rattling and seismic intensity the visual would imply.
