During the six-month deferral period, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. Effortless Setup and Navigation: A red-dot finder, included with the telescope, ensures hassle-free setup, alignment, and navigation. I’m still learning so for me, It is not a pinpoint accurate track as you would get with the computer aided trackers, I don't think I'll be taking any photo sequences to stack with this rig, but it does enable you to concentrate on your chosen object without having to perform repeated alterations to your orientation quite as often. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. TBH I think the motor is more for show than anything else, something to entice beginners like myself at the time, and I ended up removing it because it kept getting in the way of the slow motion controls. But I think I’ll have to wait for now and just be content to practice and enjoy the 130EQ-MD it has been a great tool/toy and addition to my Man Cave. Crayford style, and while it’s almost entirely made of plastic, it provides smooth and easy operation.

This mount is an upgraded version of Celestron’s entry-level EQ2 mount, and it features some performance and cosmetic upgrades. A 15mm “redline” or “goldline” eyepiece (43x) fits well between the 32mm and the provided 10mm eyepieces, while a 7mm planetary eyepiece (93x) provides about the highest magnification you can use with the AstroMaster 130EQ before the flawed spherical mirrors no longer provide a sharp or even acceptable image. If you use a DSLR, you will need the usual T-adapter, but the focuser won't give you the right back-focus so you have to use a 2x Barlow. Following the six-month deferral period, Novuna Personal Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. With a good sample of the 130EQ, Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, the Cassini division in Saturn’s rings, the ice caps and albedo markings of Mars, and even the tiniest lunar craters (as small as a few miles across) are visible with the telescope. The Celestron AstroMasters used to come with a strangely designed, cheap, built-in, non-removable red-dot finder that had a nice switch and glass window, but suffered from alignment problems. After all, without quality optics, you won’t be able to see much when you’re observing, even in good seeing conditions. In practical terms, an image viewed through an F/5 telescope will be four times brighter than that seen through an F/10 telescope. If you're looking for a dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the Astromaster Series is for you. I found that once I had my chosen object sat squarely in the scope and the motor was on, I had to look and see if the object was racing ahead or being left behind by the scope and then make adjustments accordingly to speed up or slow down the motor. In the past, the Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ telescope featured a permanently mounted star finder, which received considerable feedback from users regarding its challenging usability and ineffectiveness in locating celestial objects. The 130EQ optical tube can be rotated in its rings to adjust the position of the eyepiece, but you could easily throw off the balance and/or skew the pointing of the telescope in the process of doing so. I find the placement a little odd, but it is actually more comfortable to reach than the standard location of finders on a lot of telescopes. While the concept might seem complex, it can be simplified as follows: a telescope with a faster focal ratio, like F/5, captures brighter images compared to a slower one, say F/10.

All of the mount’s adjustable components are well finished and fit nicely in your hand when you make adjustments. The tube attaches to its mount with a pair of felt-lined metal tube rings and a short Vixen-style dovetail, which allows the scope to be balanced and the eyepiece rotated to a comfortable position, as well as for the scope to be installed on a different mount. For observers looking to maximize their experience with this telescope, it’s recommended to focus on distant and expansive celestial subjects. This package includes a solid German equatorial mount that’s well built and provides simple controls that even a complete beginner will be able to pick up quickly. hi i have this scope and motor drive and its true the md is a bit crappy (for want of a better word) the trouble is that when the scope is pointing at a high angle the cable attachments do catch the md housing:mad: i took this off then the tightening bolt for the ra hit . Screw in the balance weight slide bar and fit on the two 5 kg weights, ensuring they are securely locked on with their finger tightened grub screws. My top recommendation for you is to get a decent set of eyepieces (you didn't mention if you're still using the plastic ones that came with the scope).
